I initially bought the external frame style and enjoyed the tent for several years before adding the internal frame option. I still used the rope kit from the original external frame package. The ropes have always adjusted up tight and held their positions well. I have never had to replace a rope. I like their system using an eye bolt to drop into the external frame uprights and continue to use that system for my rain fly/awning combination.

the rope material and tent stakes (large nails) are not worth the time to drive them in the ground. You bought a great tent so invest in some good 1/4′ double braided line, real tent stakes and problem solved.
