our history

1993 -
In August 1993, after 37 years of working in the canvas business for another tent manufacture, my Dad's (Art Davis) dream of owning his own shop was realized with the opening of Davis Tent and Awning in Englewood, Colorado. It was at this time I (his son, Roy) started working with him. The 5,000 square foot facility seemed spacious at the time.

1998 -

Within five years, we had outgrown our original building in Englewood and we broke ground and started construction of a 20,000 sq. ft. facility in Denver (which is still our current location). It was at this time that Rick (my brother) joined the company. With the extra space we were able to expand our showroom and display some of the mounts we have collected over the years. And set up tents inside our showroom as well.

2005 -

Art leaves Davis Tent and started his well earned retirement. At this time Rick and I become business partners. It was roughly at this time Chris Davis (my son) started his career as a third generation tent maker.

We have had to do some rearranging over the years expanding both the production area and adding some pallet racking to the warehouse to accommodate our growth but our Denver location is still functioning well with room for further expansion.

Our large cutting table is 6' wide and 48' long. This is where the production of our tents (and most all of our projects) start. From here, they are off to one or more of our many specialized sewing machines. We have over 30 sewing machines that we use all the time on our production line (and we have at least 50 machines "in reserve" for the out of the norm projects). After being sewn and grommetted, completed items go to our smaller cutting table (5' x 40') for quality control. Any accompanying tent poles or internal frames are made right here in our metal shop. After they pass quality inspection, we fold them and put them on the shelf or ship them off to our customers all over the world.
